your greatest friends become enemies . the innocent ones turn into sluts . lollipops turn into cigarettes . homework goes in the trash . cellphones are used in class . detention becomes a new class . soda becomes vodka . underwear turn into thongs . kisses turn into sex . remember when getting high meant seeing who can go the farthest on a swing ? When protection meant wearing a helmet ? when the worst things youu could get from boys were cooties ? When dads shoulders were the highest place on earth and mom was your hero ? your worst enemies were your siblings . race issues were about who ran the fastest ? war was only a card gamee . the only drugg you knew of was cough medicine , & wearing a skirt didnt make you a whore ? the only things that hurt youu were skinned knees , & goodbyes only meant until tomorrow ? the only drama you knew of was romeo and juliet ? the only thing you could cheat in were games , & players were the people that played in sports not relationships ? peer pressure over-took teens lives . the only way we could change was with clothes & actions not ourselves . yet we absolutely couldnt wait to grow up , & now growing up is our worst fear .
